Mount Washington is perched high on Vancouver Island, BC, at 1,588 meters above sea level and enjoys some of the deepest snow in North America. In winter, 11m of average annual snowfall blankets 1 ,700 acres of skiable terrain and 505 vertical metres of descents. Alpine runs, a tube park, 55 km of cross‑country tracks and 25 km of snowshoe trails make this a playground for everyone from first‑timers to powder hounds. A fleet of chairlifts and a dedicated learning zone ensure easy access and progression. When night falls, the starlit sky up here is spectacular, and on a clear night it feels like you can reach out and touch the constellations.

Come summer and autumn, the focus shifts to lift‑accessed mountain biking and hiking. More than 81 km of bike park trails wind through alpine forests, and there are 23 different lift‑accessed routes ranging from hand‑built technical lines to machine‑built flow tracks. Adventure seekers can soar along Vancouver Island’s longest zipline, an exhilarating 2.3 km course that crosses “The Abyss,” hits speeds close to 100 km/h and finishes with rooftop views of Mount Albert Edward. For a slower pace, the Eagle Express chairlift offers panoramic summer rides without breaking a sweat, and Strathcona Provincial Park’s extensive trail network beckons hikers to alpine meadows, waterfalls and crystal lakes.

With all that adventure, staying on the mountain keeps you close to the action. Mount Washington offers more than 600 condos, A‑frames and rustic‑chic chalets. Accommodations range from budget‑friendly studios to spacious family lodges, many with fireplaces, saunas and full kitchens. You can step out your door directly onto bike trails, ski runs or the Paradise Meadows boardwalk, enjoy sunrises over wildflower fields and relax in a hot tub under the stars. The mountain’s central island location means Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland and Campbell River are each about a 30‑minute drive away.
